Rotterdam

Hardly a surprise that the first thing we noticed was another statue!

Erasmus Bridge

More strange statues after the jump

Sunday Edition: Rotterdam

The coolest tree we saw on our travels. Somewhere between the EuroMast park and the train station.

The Keukenhof

We did a day trip to the Keukenhof from Amsterdam. It was beautiful. If you're really into the flowers I wouldn't recommend going in the off season, but we went for the experience. So it was amazing.

It wouldn't be Europe without strange sculptures.

One of many greenhouses.

Suddenly the wind and rain picked up.

The theme that year was "From Russia with Love."

A cup of tea with a lid! The pie was delicious too.

Amsterdam and the Hague

A bench in an Amsterdam square
Amsterdam is actually a pretty beautiful city, but its smutty reputation has taken over much mention of it.

We went on a couple of interesting walking tours of Amsterdam. This is a pee guard... so someone peeing in a dark corner of the street has all of his urine sprayed back all over him. We also went on a red light tour of the city. It was interesting to see the different night culture, and we were glad to be in a group. Safety in numbers.

The smallest house in the world.

Our first panorama was in the Hauge. I fell in love.

The Escher Museum

Creative lighting in the museum.

Paleis Nourdeinde Gardens

A creative street sign in Amsterdam. New, new street.

Bruges and Ghent

Bruges Belfry

The main square in Bruges

Chocolate in almost every store window

Yes those are chocolate breasts. No, I'm not sure what would possess someone to buy them.

More lovely scaffolding on famous landmarks.

Our first windmill!

Of course we had to buy chocolate

We weren't impressed with Ghent. Basically the whole city centre was closed and under renovations. Plus Trevor let me navigate, so we ended up lost in the industrial district... Ah, good times.

Bikes outside the Ghent train station.
